Improving diet in Wales - piecing together the jigsaw

Wednesday 21 February 2007

Key outcomes from the 2006 nutrition strategy conference.

Background

The launch of 'Food and Well Being' in February 2003 provided a policy context for driving forward improvements in diet and nutritional status in Wales. This has subsequently been supported by the inception of Health Challenge Wales and a host of other strategies, which include reference to action on diet. These range from national policies aimed at specific vulnerable groups within the population such as the elderly and children and young people, to local nutrition strategies and action plans. This event endeavoured to demonstrate how these complement one another and indeed together comprise a substantial and coherent programme of action on diet and nutrition in Wales, through both reflection on the policy context and exploration of its translation into action.

These events build on previous 'Food and Well Being' Forums held in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
