Key outcomes from the 2005 'Food and Well Being' nutrition strategy implementation conferences
Imperial Hotel, Llandudno 19 May 2005
Angel Hotel, Cardiff, 15 June 2005
The joint FSA Wales/Welsh Assembly Government nutrition strategy 'Food and Well Being' aims to improve the diet of all people in Wales, particularly those most susceptible to diet and health inequality. Launched in February 2003 by Jane Hutt, the Minister for Health and Social Services, it comprises an action plan ascribing specific actions to FSA Wales/the Welsh Assembly Government, and for lead by other key players.
The theme for these conferences, 'Eating for Health' was fundamental in informing the need for and development of this strategy. Many of the actions embedded in 'Food and Well Being' focus on helping consumers make healthier food choices through practical means, underpinned by maximising potential through partnership working. Furthermore, improving diet and health are central to the Food Standards Agency's aspirations, reflected in 'Eating for Health' being one of the Agency's key aims in its new Strategic Plan for 2005-2010.
These events build on previous 'Food and Well Being' fora held in 2003 and 2004.
