Food Standards Agency Wales runs the annual Awards for Food Action Locally (AFAL) scheme to recognise individual or team contributions to local nutrition initiatives that have made a positive impact on the diet or eating habits of residents in the communities where they work.
The aim of 'Get Cooking!' is to provide trainers with a toolkit to teach young people, broadly between the ages of 14 and 25, some basic cooking skills in a community setting.
The Healthy Options award has been developed in partnership with Welsh Local Authorities, CIEH Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government and the National Public Health Service for Wales to reward caterers throughout Wales who make it easier for consumers to make healthy choices when eating out of the home.
The need for a Nutrition Network for Wales was identified by stakeholders during the development of Food and Well Being , the nutrition strategy for Wales.
FSA Wales-funded independent nutrition studies are now available online. In particular, you can read the conclusions and recommendations of these studies that have shaped, and continue to shape, policy in relation to 'Food and Well Being' , the national nutrition strategy action plan for Wales.
Heart disease is now Wales' biggest killer and rates are substantially higher than in England and many other European countries.
The Food Standards Agency Wales has published a review of dietary interventions in black and minority ethnic (BME) groups across the UK.
