Food Standards Agency Wales will be holding a seminar for food business operators to discuss a new proposal for a Regulation on the provision of food information to consumers from the European Commission. The seminar is being held as part of the public consultation exercise due to end on 2 May 2008.
The aim of the seminar will be to review the content of the proposal focusing in particular on the areas of nutrition labelling, clarity of labels and country of origin for pre-packed foods. There will also be the opportunity to discuss the implications of the proposed extension of allergen labelling to businesses selling food sold loose and pre-packed for direct sale.
The seminar will be held on Wednesday 2 April from 10am at the Media Resource Centre in Llandrindod Wells. Food business operators wishing to attend the event should contact Alison Black on 029 2067 8911; email Alison.black@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk to register their interest.
