Calling all lovers of food

Friday 28 January 2005

Ref: WA 02/O5CK

Are you creative in the kitchen or living in the fast lane with convenience food? Perhaps you're a fast food fanatic or a lover of slow food.

Whichever you are, you may be interested in meeting to discuss 'Fast Food' at an open session of the Welsh Food Advisory Committee of FSA Wales, being held in Carmarthen on Wednesday, 23 February.

Attendees and members of the Committee will hear a presentation on fast food, including an overview of healthy eating and convenience foods and speakers from manufacturing and retailing.

Members of the public, food producers and retailers, local authority representatives and other organisations with an interest in food, food standards and safety are invited to attend the open meeting.

Audience members will be invited to share their views on the fast food issues that matter to them, and to comment upon the deliberations during an open question and answer session.

The meeting will be held at the Halliwell Centre of Trinity College, Carmarthen, and will take place between 9am and 1pm.

The Welsh Food Advisory Committee gives advice and information to the Food Standards Agency on its operations in Wales.

As part of its commitment to openness, it regularly holds open meetings across the country. Its nine members have a wide range of expertise in different aspects of the food industry.

Members of the public wishing to attend the open meeting should contact Deb Morgan on 029 2067 8999 or email: deb.morgan@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk
