Food Standards Agency as a regulator?

Monday 1 August 2005

Ref: WA41/O5CK

As part of its programme of regular open meetings, the Welsh Food Advisory Committee of FSA Wales is holding a meeting on regulatory matters in Abergavenny on Wednesday 21 September.

During the meeting, the facets of the Agency's work in Wales will be examined, in particular the Agency's role as a regulator; regulation within Wales from a National Assembly perspective and an insight into how the local authorities actually enforce food law in Wales.

Anyone with an interest is invited to attend this meeting, to share their views on related issues that matter to them and comment upon the deliberations during an open question and answer session.

The meeting will be held in the Ballroom of the Angel Hotel, Cross Street, Abergavenny, and will take place between 9am and 1pm.

The Welsh Food Advisory Committee gives advice and information to the Food Standards Agency on its operations in Wales. As part of its commitment to openness, it regularly holds open meetings across the country.

Members of the public wishing to attend the open meeting should contact Deb Morgan on 029 2067 8999 or email: deb.morgan@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk
