If you're heading for college or university this autumn, the chances are you'll be living away from home for the first time. It's going to be up to you to make sure you don't waste away. What's worse, you're expected to do it with the aid of a fiver, a two-ring hob and a toaster.
If up till now you've avoided the kitchen on a matter of principle, Healthy Nosh for Less Dosh , a new publication from FSA Wales, could be just what is needed. It aims to give insight and incentive to help choose, buy and cook healthy food, whilst watching the pennies.
Healthy Nosh for Less Dosh contains tips on how to get clued-up to be a thrifty shopper, cooking foods that are nutritious and economical. The 18-page guide includes hot tips, real life stories, simple and tasty recipes and a quiz all aimed at providing young people, learning to manage on a limited budget, with the confidence and motivation to make a start in the quest for a healthier diet.
Caroline Kitson of Food Standards Agency Wales said: 'There are few publications that focus on healthy eating for students. This booklet contains the essential information that will set them on the road to healthy eating.'
Bilingual copies of Healthy Nosh for Less Dosh can be ordered from Food Standards Agency Wales on 029 2067 8912 or by emailing: nutritionstrategywales@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk
