The Food Standards Agency Wales will be showing how easy it is to cook up a healthy, nutritious feast this week as it brings it programme of live cookery demonstrations to the Panasonic Warehouse, Park View Drive.
Food Standards Agency Advisory Committee Wales member Dilwen Phillips will be sharing her cookery skills with local senior citizens, who have been invited to watch the demonstrations on Tuesday, 5th, Wednesday, 6th and Wednesday, 14th October (2 - 3.30pm). The events aim to encourage the over 65's to eat sensibly during the winter months.
Cwmbran is just one stop on the Agency in Wales’ countrywide cookery demonstration tour, which supports the National Assembly for Wales’ Keep Well This Winter (KWTW) campaign. KWTW aims to help over 65’s keep warm, well and safe during the winter months. This year’s campaign was launched at Colwyn Bay on 2 October 2002.
Jayne Griffiths, an executive officer for FSA Wales, said: 'FSA Wales is proud to be involved in the Keep Well This Winter campaign. Our tour allows us to reach out into the wider community, and demonstrate how easy it is to cook up quick but nutritious meals. Spreading the message about healthy eating to older people is particularly important during the winter, when people can be at their most vulnerable to illness.'
Back to topThe National Assembly for Wales' key partners in the Keep Well This Winter campaign are: Age Concern Cymru; Care and Repair Cymru; the Energy Saving Trust; the Food Standards Agency Wales; National Energy Action; the Royal National Institute for the Blind and the Wales Youth Agency.
NHD Direct Wales is running the Keep Well This Winter website and provides a telephone information service to support the campaign. The campaign is further supported by the National Association of Citizens' Advice Bureaux and the Welsh Local Government Association.
