Friday 17 March 2006

The Food Hygiene (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (SSI 2006/3) came into force on 11 January 2006 - this applied the provisions of the EU implementing and transitional measures and the EU Microbiological Criteria Regulation.

The Official Feed and Food Controls (Scotland) Regulations 2005 (SSI 2005/616) came into force on 1 January 2006 and were amended by the Food Hygiene (Scotland) Regulations 2006.

An electronic copy of the Food Hygiene (Scotland) Regulations 2006 and the Official Feed and Food Controls Regulations 2005 can be found on the (OPSI) website.

The Food Hygiene (Scotland) Regulations 2005 (SI 2005/505) were in force from 1 January 2006 until 10 January 2006. An explanation as to why was provided in a letter issued 28 December 2005 to stakeholders - the letter detailed the position regarding the application of the new EU food hygiene, Official Feed and Food Controls and Microbiological Criteria Regulations into UK law and highlighted the effects resulting from a delay in publication of a number of related European Commission regulations.
