Details about the Agency's research policies, how we manage research and general information can be accessed from this page.

Research Management

Responsibility for the management of research rests with the Agency staff responsible for development of policy in the relevant area. The Food Standards Agency uses the ROAME system for research management but is currently looking at alternative methods.

In 2001 we published a detailed review of the research we fund and the way we manage it. The report drew on the views of independent experts and other stakeholders and the Agency is implementing its recommendations. This will help to ensure that the research we fund is managed effectively and meets the Agency's needs and those of its stakeholders. The report entitled 'A Review of the Food Standards Agency's Research Portfolio and Research Management Systems' can be accessed here . Our progress towards implementing the recommendations are documented in the minutes of the meetings of the Advisory Committee on Research.

The Agency is taking measures to improve the way it communicates the findings of its research to both technical and non-specialist audiences alike. It is making increasing use of this website to publicise calls for proposals for new work and the outcomes of its research. Final reports from research contracts are placed in the public domain and the findings of research projects are accessible to the general public through the Agency's library.
