Information about Agency-funded research projects investigating diet and cognitive function.

N05038: Impact of n-3 LCPUFAs on depressed mood and cognitive function - a randomised, placebo-controlled trial

This research project aims to investigate the effects of fish oil supplements on mood and cognitive function.

N05039: Cognitive function, emotional well-being and dietary factors in the Caerphilly cohort of older men

This research project aims to examine the relationship between dietary intake (including the impact of breastfeeding) and emotional well-being.

N05048: Effects of early childhood diet on promotion of good mental health throughout adulthood

This research project will examine the impact of early childhood diet on the promotion of good mental health and wellbeing later in life.

N05049: The influence of diet in infancy on early growth, and bone health and cognitive function at four years of age

This research project aims to investigate the link between diet in early life and bone mass and cognitive function at 4 years.

N05053: A double-blind randomised controlled trial of n-3 long chain fatty acids as a dietary means to slow cognitive and retinal decline in older people in the UK

This research project will examine if improving the diet of older people, specifically increasing the dietary intake of n-3 fatty acids, may be able to delay the initiation or slow the progression of cognitive decline.

N05070: A systematic review of the effect of nutrition, diet and dietary change on learning, education and performance of children of relevance to UK schools

This research project aims to assess the evidence surrounding the effect of nutrition on the behaviour, learning and performance of school-aged children in the UK and developed world.
