Background

EEC Directives 79/923/EEC and 91/492/EEC require that Food Standards Agency Scotland (FSAS) monitor chemical contaminants in shellfish. This will provide FSAS with information on the levels of PAH, Heavy Metals, chloro-biphenyls and pesticide contamination in various shellfish species in Scottish coastal waters.
