Background

This report describes the review of the Food Irradiation Research Programme (A05) over the period 1995-2003; first under the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food (MAFF) and then the Food Standards Agency (FSA) after April 2000.

The review was carried out by a panel of four independent experts. This report describes the projects under review, their cost, outcome and objectives; the report also includes the panel's review of the projects along with recommendations for the future direction of the programme.
