Listen to this siteThe General Advisory Committee on Science (GACS), established in December 2007, provides independent advice on the Agency's governance and use of science.
The Committee's work includes horizon scanning, science governance, developing good practice and informing science priorities.
The GACS comprises an independent Chair, four independent expert members, two lay members and the Chairs of the nine scientific advisory committees, that advise the Agency, who are members of GACS in an ex officio capacity.
The GACS is supported by a Secretariat provided by the Food Standards Agency

From time to time, GACS considers intersessional papers which provide information or request comments when this is needed between meetings.
All GACS meetings are open to members of the public, and the agenda and papers are available prior to the meeting.
