Committee on Carcinogenicity (COC)

The Committee on Carcinogenicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment (COC) assesses and gives advice on carcinogenic risk to humans.

It advises on important general principles or new scientific discoveries in connection with carcinogenic risks, co-ordinates with other bodies concerned with the assessment of carcinogenic risks, and makes recommendations for carcinocogenicity testing.

COC is a non-statutory body that was established in its present form in 1978. Its secretariat is provided jointly between the Food Standards Agency and the Department of Health. The Committee's main website is based within the Department of Health site at the (External) COC home page .
