Hygiene Guidance

Guidance notes for business on hygiene legislation, including the 2006 food hygiene legislation.

Hygiene legislation

Food hygiene legislation affects all food businesses, including caterers, primary producers (such as farmers), manufacturers and retailers. New legislation was introduced in the UK in January 2006. How it affects you will depend on the size and type of your business.

Scores on the Doors

It is very important that all food businesses obey the law and supply food that is safe to eat. Consumers in certain areas can already see how well a food business in their area complies with food hygiene regulations through 'scores on the doors' schemes run by their local authority.
