A number of packs of Sainsbury's Taste the Difference British Yorkshire Breaded Ham contain egg and gluten (wheat). The presence of egg and gluten (wheat) is not declared on the packaging and therefore may be a potential risk to health for people allergic to egg and/or gluten (wheat).

Display until: 11 March 2009

Action taken by the company

The company has withdrawn the affected date code and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations which will inform their at-risk members of the withdrawal. Notices are being displayed in all stores to alert consumers to the reasons for the withdrawal, and the actions they can take if they have purchased the product. A copy of the text of the point-of-sale notice issued by Sainsburys Supermarkets Ltd can be found below.

No other Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd products are known to be affected.

Advice to consumers

Customers with an allergy or intolerance to egg and/or gluten (wheat) are advised not eat this product.

ADVICE FOR WHEAT GLUTEN AND EGG ALLERGY SUFFERERS

Taste the difference British Yorkshire breaded ham 140g

Use by 13th March

Due to a labelling error some packs of this product do not indicate that they contain traces of wheat gluten and egg.

If you have a wheat gluten or egg allergy, please do not eat this product. Return the product to a colleague at the customer service desk for a full refund.

No other products are affected by this recall, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.
