The Co-operative – 5 Butter Flapjack Squares

Risk

A limited proportion of the Co-operative Fairtrade Chocolate Brownies has been incorrectly packed in The Co-operatives 5 Butter flapjack squares packaging. The product is clearly visible to the purchaser. However the Chocolate Brownies contain egg, soya and wheat all of which are not declared on the flapjack packaging, resulting in incorrect allergen labelling. The product is therefore a health risk to individuals with allergies to the aforementioned ingredients or intolerance to gluten.

Action taken by the company

Withdrawn product from distribution and stores. Point-of-sale notices are on display advising customers of the issue. The Co-operative Food Group has notified the relevant allergy support organisations.

No other The Co-operative Food Group products are known to be affected.

Advice to consumers

Customers with allergies/intolerances to egg, soya and wheat are advised not to consume this product. Customers can call The Co-operative Food Group customer relations free phone on 0800 0686 727 to arrange for a full refund.

Co-operative Fairtrade Butter Flapjack Squares 5s
Best Before 30th August 2008

A limited quantity of Chocolate Brownies have been packed in Flapjack packaging. The chocolate brownies contain egg, soya and wheat as a source of gluten.

We would advise any of our customers with an egg, soya or wheat allergy not to eat the product and to telephone Customer Relations on Freephone 0800-0686-727 to arrange for a full refund.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to assure customers of our commitment to the highest standards of product quality.
