Guidance Notes on the Contaminants in Food Regulations (Northern Ireland)

This Guidance Note has been produced by the Food Standards Agency with the aim of providing informal guidance and a general introduction to The Contaminants in Food Regulations (Northern Ireland).

The regulations, which are made under The Food Safety (NI) Order 1991, make provision for the enactment and enforcement of European Commission Regulation 1881/2006 which sets maximum limits for certain contaminants in foodstuffs, and implement a number of allied enforcement Commission Regulations dealing with sampling and analysis procedures.
