Food Alert For Information on a yellow background
Tangerine Confectionary has recalled some batches of Butterkist Sweet Microwave Popcorn due to the potential presence of rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae) within the product. The Agency has issued a Food Alert for Information.
Three multipack batches and one single pack batch have been recalled.
The product being withdrawn is Butterkist Sweet Microwave Popcorn with the following batch codes:
02/2011 B8386 – 3 x 100g multipack
03/2011 B8497 – 3 x 100g multipack
02/2011 B8496 – 3 x 100g multipack
02/2011 A8394 – 100g single pack on Clipstrip
Shops that stock the affected product have been issued with a point-of-sale notice explaining to consumers why the popcorn has been recalled.
If you have bought a pack that has one of the above batch numbers you should call the freephone number 0800 035 2535 for further information on what to do. A full refund will be given.
No other Tangerine Confectionery products are known to be affected.
