The Agency’s monthly newsletter, FSA e-News, has been published and is available online. The July issue contains a roundup of some of the Agency’s most recent activities on food safety and hygiene.

The latest news includes a summary of food safety research launched jointly by the Agency, the Biotechnology and Biological Research Council and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to tackle campylobacter. The food bug campylobacter is responsible for more than 300,000 cases of food poisoning in England and Wales every year.

A section on food fraud outlines some of the work carried out by the Agency to stop the public being defrauded and deceived by traders selling food products that are not what they appear to be and that may result in health consequences for the consumer. The story includes information on who people should contact if they fear that food fraud is being perpetrated.

A report from FSA Scotland highlights the advice offered to children and families to enable them to make safer and healthier food choices. And a story with a slightly wider horizon reports on the efforts of experts attending an international conference, held in London, to spread best practice on salt reduction in our diet.

The latest research page includes reports on a new social science food research framework through which future food research analysis and evaluation can be commissioned. Summaries of some of the latest Agency-funded research are also published.
