The Agency’s Eat Safe Award has reached a significant milestone in Scotland, with the presentation of Glasgow’s 100th award.
The award, for excellence in food hygiene and food safety, was presented at Glasgow City Chambers on 15 February to the ISS Integrated Services team from the Skypark office complex in Finnieston, Glasgow.
The ISS team of 20, which is led by Catering Manager Peigi Morrison and serves up to 1,500 people a day, seven days a week, was nominated for the award by environmental health officers from Glasgow City Council.
The scheme has been well received in Glasgow, Scotland’s biggest city, and reaching the 100 landmark should encourage catering establishments across the country to strive for the high standards associated with the scheme.
Presenting the award, Jim Thomson, Assistant Director of the FSA in Scotland, congratulated ISS on its achievements and thanked Glasgow City Council for its ongoing support in implementing the scheme across the city.
Glasgow City Council’s Executive Member for Land and Environmental Services, Bailie James McNally, said: 'This award is not about those kitchens that meet their obligations – it is about those that go the extra mile and show a commitment to best practice; so I am very happy to congratulate Peigi and the whole team at ISS on their achievement.'
The Eat Safe Award was launched by the FSA in Northern Ireland in 2003 and rolled out across Scotland in 2005, with the aim of improving public confidence and consumer choice in catering establishments across the country.
