The Vending Revolution has withdrawn some Fizzy Jelly Mix and Fizzy Cola Bottles sweets, because the metal bottom of the can that contains the sweets has been inserted the wrong way. This means the sweets might react with the metal base and cause the metal to corrode and the sweets to change colour. Snack-a-Can brand products are sold by vending machines.
The Agency has issued a Product Withdrawal Information Notice advising anyone not to eat the affected products.
The withdrawn products are:
Snack-a-Can brand Fizzy Jelly Mix, 60g
Snack-a-Can brand Fizzy Cola Bottles, 62g
The Vending Revolution has withdrawn the affected sweets from sale. It has asked businesses that sell the products to remove any affected sweets from vending machines.
No other The Vending Revolution products are known to be affected.
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). The Food Standards Agency issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.
