A new and four renewing members of the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF) were announced today by the Chair of the FSA, Dame Deirdre Hutton.
The ACMSF provides the Food Standards Agency with independent expert advice on the microbiological safety of food. A core role for the committee is to assess the risk to humans of microorganisms used or occurring both in and on food.
Rosie Glazebrook is the new consumer representative. Rosie has a background in publishing and media and has been involved in developing a number of major consumer campaigns and publications.
Four reappointments have also been made. They are:
John Bassett - microbiological risk assessor, Unilever Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre
Dr David Brown - director of the Virus Reference Department, Centre for Infections, Health Protection Agency
Vivianne Buller - consultant for local authority caterers
Robert Rees - chef and food consultant
