DVD launched to train staff in SFBB

Thursday 21 February 2008

The Agency has launched a DVD designed to help small caterers and retailers across the UK implement 'Safer food, better business' (SFBB) into their food businesses and improve food safety.

‘It will build upon the overwhelming success of Safer food, better business in improving food safety and minimising red tape burdens on small catering and retail businesses.’

SFBB packs are already being used by thousands of small businesses in the UK to help them improve food safety, through the safe preparation, handling and storage of food, and to comply with food legislation. The DVD will complement the main SFBB packs, providing additional support to businesses that are implementing and training staff in SFBB.

To make it accessible to the widest range of businesses, the DVD has voiceovers available in 16 different languages. It also uses video scenes of realistic situations in small catering and retail businesses to demonstrate SFBB in action.

David Statham, Director of Consumer Protection and Enforcement at the Food Standards Agency, said: 'The DVD will prove to be an invaluable addition to the "Safer food, better business" material already available to help businesses implement a food safety management system and train their staff. It will build upon the overwhelming success of "Safer food, better business" in improving food safety and minimising red tape burdens on small catering and retail businesses.'

The DVD, which is aimed at managers, food handlers, trainers and local authorities, can be ordered free of charge from FSA Publications. More information on how to order can be found at the link below.

An online version of the DVD is currently being developed.
