Morrisons recalls fresh Scottish salmon
Wednesday 13 February 2008
Food Alert For Information on a yellow background
Morrisons has recalled its fresh Scottish salmon (but not organic salmon) sold from fresh fish counters and pre-packed chiller cabinets because of a possible risk of a white spirit taint, resulting in an unpleasant taste.
The Agency has issued a Food Alert for Information.
The company has removed the affected products from sale and product recall notices will appear in the national press as of today, 13 February 2008. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in its stores explaining why the product has been recalled. Anyone who has bought the product can return it to the store for a full refund.

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). Food alerts are the FSA's way of letting local authorities and consumers know about problems associated with food and, in some cases, providing details of specific action to be taken. They are issued under two categories:
-
Food Alerts: for Action
-
Food Alerts: for Information
You can get FSA alerts either by email or SMS text. Visit the Get Alerts page at the link below to find out how.
