The FSA has announced the panel and terms of reference for the Review of the Sudan I industrial dyes incident that took place in February and March 2005. The panel discussions will be held in public so please let us know if you want to observe them.
They will be held at the Agency’s Head Office in London:

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis, so you must have pre-arranged to attend.
The panel is due to discuss issues with invited parties between 24 May and 30 May. The sessions will last for about 1¼ hours each and will run back to back, with two each morning and afternoon. Morning discussions will start at 10am and the afternoon discussions at 1.45pm.
Interested parties are invited to submit written comments on issues covered by the terms of reference by 10 May.
Representatives from food and drink manufacturers and ingredient suppliers, the catering industry, the enforcement authorities, the media, and the Food Standards Agency, are being invited to discuss their views with the Review Panel.
If you have a preference for seeing the discussions with a particular group please make this known and we shall try to accommodate your wishes.
Back to topThe decision to hold a comprehensive review of the issues surrounding the incident was made by the Board of the FSA in January of this year. The recall of food products potentially affected by Sudan I was the largest of its kind and affected a large number of foods on sale at supermarkets and convenience stores.

The panel may also explore how the food chain can best be protected given the underlying causes of the Sudan I incident and how the supply chain deals with intelligence, particularly when it relates to ongoing incidents over a long period of time.
