The 2005 Annual Report of the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF) has been published and is now available online.
The Committee provides the Food Standards Agency with independent, expert advice on the microbiological safety of food.
Chapter 1 of the report deals with various administrative issues including appointments to the committee, personal liability and openness.
Chapter 2 reviews the committee's work during the course of 2005. Topics covered include Clostridium botulinum - infant botulism and botulism in cattle, the changing pattern of human listeriosis, hepatitis E, avian influenza, bush meat, imported foods, salt reduction, the microbiological status of fruit and vegetables, egg advice and surveillance activities.
Chapter 3 of the report covers the committee's programme of future work as well at its horizon scanning activities. The report contains several annexes which provide administrative details including membership and a register of members' financial and other interests.
The ACMSF's 2005 Annual Report is the 14th in the series. It is available in hard copy from the Secretariat (contact email: acmsf@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk ), or can be accessed from the link below.
