Brands of Camembert cheese withdrawn

Food Alert For Action on a green background

Camembert cheeses sold by a number of retailers, including Waitrose, are being withdrawn because of concerns about possible contamination with E. coli O26.

Some strains of E. coli O26 may cause severe food poisoning. The Food Standards Agency has issued a Food Alert for Action.

People should not eat this cheese. For information on how to obtain a refund, contact the importer, Anthony Rowcliffe & Son Ltd, on its customer care line, 01892 839950.

The affected cheeses are:

All batches of the above cheeses are affected, including all use-by dates.

The cheeses are made in France by Laiterie Fromagerie du Val d�Ay-Etablissement REAUX and are distributed in the UK by Anthony Rowcliffe & Son Ltd.

Anthony Rowcliffe & Son Ltd has contacted all the retailers that it supplies with these cheeses. It is also arranging for point-of-sale notices to be put up in shops and is taking out advertisements in national newspapers.
