CIEH–FSA National Curry Chef of the Year 2003

Curry chefs around the country are competing to become National Curry Chef 2003.

The competition, organised jointly by the Food Standards Agency and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), aims to showcase some of the best and most dazzling ethnic culinary skills in the country. Chefs who take part are also required to demonstrate excellent food hygiene and safety awareness in the kitchen.

Following local heats and seven regional finals across England and Wales, the competition will culminate in a grand final at the BBC Good Food Show at Birmingham NEC on 26 November. The regional winners and the 2002 champion, Chad Rahman, will battle it out for the coveted title of CIEH–FSA National Curry Chef of the Year 2003 and a prize of £3000.

This year the FSA is sponsoring the competition as part of its work raising hygiene standards across the catering industry – the aim of the Agency's high profile Food Hygiene Campaign, which will run until 2006.
