Workshop on nutrient profiling: 25 February 2005

Wednesday 1 June 2005

The workshop on nutrient profiling was attended by around 30 nutrition academics from the UK, as well as policy makers from overseas, and supported the use of the model for regulatory purposes.

The profiling model was originally developed with the focus on children aged 11-16. Further work was therefore commissioned to explore whether the model could be applied to other age groups.

This study (attached below) concluded that the model could, with some further consideration of salt levels, be applied to all people over the age of five years. The study was discussed at the scientific workshop, which supported its findings.
