The Agency recognises the crucial role that local authorities will continue to play in helping businesses raise standards, through their routine inspection programmes and through providing advice and assistance.
England
- The Agency is making available a package of measures for local authorities, underpinned by additional funding of more than
10m over a three-year period starting in 2005/06.
Wales - The Agency is offering help and financial support to local authorities.
Scotland
- Scottish Ministers made available additional funds of
2m for 2004/5 and a further
2m for 2005/6 to build upon previous local authority work and to encourage further uptake of HACCP in the catering sector.
Northern Ireland - Local authorities have been using the 'Safe Catering' model for a number of years and hence are pivotal to its success.
