The Food Standards Agency has issued guidance notes to provide advice in relation to regulation 41 of the Official Feed and Food Controls (England) Regulations 2007, which came into force on 14 December 2007. Parallel regulations apply in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Regulation 41 gives effect in England to a provision in Regulation (EC) 882/2004 on official controls, which requires mandatory fees to be imposed by the regulatory authorities in relation to expenses arising from 'additional official controls'.
The Q&A guidance has been developed following public consultation and explains the provisions of the regulation, providing informal and non-statutory advice. The notes will be kept under review and revised and updated as necessary.
