Sampling guidance

These guidance documents on food standards and feedingstuffs sampling have been developed through the Sampling Co-ordination Working Group (SCWG) and has been endorsed by the Enforcement Liaision Group (ELG).

The guidance offers advice on the issues local authorities may wish to consider when setting their sampling programmes each year and go on to give practical guidance in taking samples for food standards and feedingstuffs, complementing LACORS' existing guidance on microbiological sampling.

The Agency is keen to ensure that the guidance is useful to local authority enforcement officers and it welcomes feedback on its content and suggestions for additional areas that may be useful. The guidance will not be issued in hard copy, but will be updated online through numbered updates when appropriate.

Please email standards.support@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk if you have any comments on the guidance.
