A.G Barr PLC withdraws Simply Fruity and Simply Aqua drinks due to reports of a problem with the bottle cap

Monday 20 April 2009

Food Alert: for Information

Ref: 14/2009

A.G Barr PLC has withdrawn Simply Fruity and Simply Aqua drinks, due to reports of a problem with the bottle cap. All three complaints have related to young children who have chewed the cap, which has led to the cap coming off the bottle and causing a choking hazard. The contents of the bottle are safe to drink.

A.G Barr PLC has withdrawn the affected date codes from sale. Point of sale notices will be displayed in the implicated stores. These notices will alert customers to the withdrawal and advise them of what actions to take if they have purchased the products.

The products withdrawn are:

Simply Fruity (Still Fruit Soft Drink)
Best before end: Nov 2009, Dec 2009 and Jan 2010

Simply Aqua (Flavoured Water Drink)
Best before end: Dec 2009

Pack size: 330ml PET bottle with Pull Push Sports Cap. Sold in either multi packs of 12x330ml or single units of 330ml

No other Simply or A.G Barr products are known to be affected.
