Waitrose Ltd has recalled organic eggs from one farm due to lead contamination. Only eggs marked with the farm identification code OUK 20137 are affected.

Waitrose Ltd has recalled the affected products. Point-of-sale notices will appear in stores nationwide. These notices will alert customers to the recall and advise them of what actions to take if they have purchased the products.

The products recalled are:

Waitrose Organic Free Range Eggs Columbian Black Tail Hens

Date codes up to and including 21 May 2008

Product sizes:
Medium (6 egg and 12 egg packs)
Large (6 egg packs)
Very Large (6 egg packs)

Farm Identification Code: OUK 20137

No other Waitrose Ltd products are known to be affected.

Waitrose Columbian Blacktail Hens Free Range Eggs
6 very large, 6 large, 12 medium, 6 medium

As a precaution we are recalling organic eggs supplied from one flock of chickens who have consumed lead shot.

Only products listed above with shells stamped with the farm code OUK 20137 are affected (all date codes up to and including 21 May).

Customers are advised to check the codes on individual organic eggs and return any affected products to their local Waitrose branch for a full refund.

We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.
