Tryton Foods has recalled Aunt Bessie’s Chunky Croquettes, 550g, due to the detection of higher than permitted levels of the anti-oxidant, disodium dihydrogen diphosphate.
The product is being recalled following a small number of consumer complaints. The levels detected might result in an unpleasant taste or sensation in the mouth of some consumers, but is unlikely to have lasting effects on health.
The affected product was distributed exclusively through NisaFreeze (CDS) and a limited number of Tesco stores. Affected product has been removed from sale and point-of-sale notices have been placed in those outlets supplied with the affected batch. These notices advise consumers what actions to take if they have purchased this product.

No other Aunt Bessie’s products are known to be affected.

An isolated batch of Aunt Bessie’s Chunky Croquettes is being recalled because a small amount of an antioxidant commonly used during potato product preparation has been found above permitted levels in a small number of packs.
There is no immediate cause for concern but this may result in some packs having an unpleasant, vinegary flavour. The affected products have Batch Number NB7052A1 and a Best Before End date of August 2008.
If you have purchased this product, please dispose of the contents and return the packaging to this store for a full refund. Alternatively, call the Aunt Bessie’s Careline on 08000 151557 or in the Republic of Ireland 1800 696979.
No other date codes of Aunt Bessie’s Chunky Croquettes are affected. No other Aunt Bessie’s products are affected.
