Spar (UK) Ltd withdraws three varieties of its own-brand flapjacks due to a packaging error

SPAR (UK) Ltd has withdrawn three varieties of its own-brand flapjacks 90g, due to a packaging error resulting in incorrect allergen labelling information.

The Chocolate Flavoured Top Flapjack contains soya as an ingredient that has not been declared on the label. The Caramel Flapjack contains soya and sulphites that have not been declared in the ingredients list. The Bakewell Flapjack contains sulphites which are not declared on the ingredients list. These products could present a risk to people who are sensitive to sulphites or allergic to soya.

SPAR (UK) Ltd has undertaken a product withdrawal of the affected products. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in affected stores to notify the public of the withdrawal. These notices will advise consumers of the reason for the withdrawal and the actions they should take if they have already purchased the affected products.

In addition, SPAR (UK) Ltd has been in contact with the Anaphylaxis Campaign and Allergy UK, which will inform their soya-allergic members and those sensitive to sulphites of the withdrawal via their websites and a mailshot.

The products being withdrawn are:

All batch codes and best before dates are subject to the withdrawal.
