Food Alert: for Information
Ref: 63/2006 (64/06 Scotland)
H J Heinz Co. Ltd. has withdrawn their own brand Toddler's Own Sweet Potato & Beef Casserole 250g (Stage 3 for 12 months+), due to a labelling error resulting in incorrect product and allergen information.
In some cases, the product with outer sleeves labelled as Heinz Toddler's Own Sweet Potato & Beef Casserole meals may actually contain Rice and Lamb Curry pots. These contain milk which is not listed in the ingredients list, and may be unsafe for people with a milk allergy or lactose intolerance.
H J Heinz Co. Ltd. has undertaken a product withdrawal of the affected items and has issued a consumer allergen alert notice which will appear in the national press tomorrow (22/11/06). Point of sale notices will also be placed in stores selling this product to notify the public of the consumer alert. The notices advise consumers of the reason for the alert and the actions they should take if they have already purchased the affected product and they have toddlers allergic to or intolerant of cow's milk and dairy products.
H J Heinz Co. Ltd. has been in contact with the Anaphylaxis Campaign and Allergy UK, who have informed their at risk allergic members of the alert via their websites and a mailshot.
The product withdrawn is:
