Smiths recalls certain batches of its own brand Bacon Fries due to elevated levels of aflatoxins

Smiths has recalled certain batches of its own brand Bacon Fries due to elevated levels of aflatoxins present in one of the ingredients.

The maximum permitted limits in cereal products are 2 parts per billion for aflatoxin B1 and 4 parts per billion for total aflatoxin. These limits are enforced under the Contaminants in Food (England) Regulations 2005.

Smiths has recalled the affected batches from sale. Product recall notices will be placed in the national press from 19 May 2006. The notices will alert customers to the recall and explain the actions to take if they have purchased the product.

The affected product is:
Smiths Bacon Fries

Best before dates:
09-09-06
GBP4XX 111 or 112

16-09-06
GBP4XX 113 to 119 inclusive

23-09-06
GBP4XX 120 to 124 inclusive:

No other Best Before Dates are known to be affected.
