Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd recalls a certain date code of its own-brand canned tuna steak due to post-processing contamination

Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has recalled a certain date code of its own-brand canned Tuna Steak in Spring Water 3 x 80g and canned Tuna Steak in Brine 3 x 80g, due to a suspected can defect resulting in post-processing spoilage.

Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has removed the products from sale. Product recall notices will be placed in the national press and stores from 15 June 2006 to alert consumers of the problem and advise them of what actions to take if they have purchased the product.

The products recalled are:
Sainsbury's Tuna Steak in Spring Water (3 x 80g only)
Sainsbury's Tuna Steak in Brine (3 x 80g only)
Date code: Best before end December 2009

A copy of the product recall notice issued by Sainsbury's is attached to this food alert.

No other Sainsbury's products are known to be affected.
