Update on incident involving Cadbury Schweppes Plc recalling a range of its own brand chocolate products due to possible contamination with salmonella

Friday 30 June 2006

Food Alert: for Action

Ref: 36/2006 (Update 1) 38/2006 (Update 1) Scotland

Food Alert for Action 36/2006, issued on 23 June 2006, outlined preliminary action required to be taken in relation to the above incident.

Following a number of enquiries received from local authorities with regards to recalled Cadbury products, we have now received further clarification from Cadbury Schweppes Plc.

The particular Freddo product that is being recalled is the one where '10p' is printed onto the foil that the individual product is wrapped in. Some boxes have '10p' printed on the box and not on the individual foil – these are not being recalled.

The following Freddo products are not affected under the recall:
Freddo unflashed (without 10p marked on wrapping) – unit number (SKU) 11000482
Freddo Caramel 10p – unit number (SKU) 11000483

In addition, the Cadbury Dairy Milk Mint 250g bar, which has been recalled, is also available with 33% extra free printed onto the foil. Please note these are also being recalled.

Further information on best before dates of the new stock for all recalled products is expected from Cadbury Schweppes Plc by 7 July 2006.

Action to be taken by local authorities
None other than that indicated by the original Food Alert For Action 36/2006.
