Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has issued product safety advice on its own brand Tuna & Sweetcorn Pasta Salad, due to inconsistency between the ingredients listing and the allergy advice. This product is sold exclusively through Sainsbury's supermarkets.
Whey protein is listed in the ingredients list but the allergy alert bar on the label does not indicate that the product contains a dairy ingredient. The presence of dairy ingredients makes this item unsafe for individuals who are allergic to or intolerant to milk protein products.
Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd is placing product safety notices in national newspapers tomorrow; point-of-sale notices will be also displayed in all Sainsbury's stores. In addition, Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has been in contact with the Anaphylaxis Campaign to alert their milk allergic members.
