Iceland Foods Ltd recalls small batch of Chinese Takeaway Egg Fried Rice due to a packaging error

Friday 18 November 2005

Food Alert: for Information

Ref: 67/2005 (66/2005 Scotland)

Iceland Foods Ltd has recalled a batch of its own-brand Chinese Takeaway Egg Fried Rice, 350g.

A packaging error means that a batch of Special Fried Rice has been packed in Egg Fried Rice packaging.

The affected packs do not show the correct ingredients or allergy advisory statement and contain shellfish, gluten and pork, which makes this product unsafe for individuals who have an allergy or intolerance to these ingredients. The product would also be unsuitable for people wanting to avoid pork for religious reasons.

This product has been distributed to four Iceland depots in the UK. Iceland Foods Ltd has undertaken a full product recall and point-of-sale notices have been issued to all Iceland stores for display as of 18 November 2005.

In addition, Iceland Foods Ltd has been in contact with the Anaphylaxis Campaign, which will inform all relevant members about the recall, via a mailshot.
