Waitrose withdraw their own-brand Traybake Chocolate Fudge Brownie due to plastic contamination

Waitrose has withdrawn a batch of their own brand Traybake Chocolate Fudge Brownie due to contamination with small pieces of plastic. The problem was highlighted by two separate consumer complaints. The pieces of plastic are thought to have originated from a plastic biro.

Waitrose has withdrawn the affected batch from sale and placed point-of-sale notices in store to alert customers to the withdrawal and explain the actions to take if they have purchased the product.

The affected product is:

• Waitrose own brand Traybake Chocolate Fudge Brownie - best before 28 June 2005

A copy of the point-of-sale notice from Waitrose is attached to this Food Alert.
