Ref: 81/2005 (Update 2)

Food Alert for Action 81/2005 issued on 19 December and a subsequent update with regard to action required to be taken in relation to the above incident.

Information has been received from the Competent Authorities that all raw milk products, including cheeses and butter, made by the manufacturer Laiterie Fromagerie du Val d'Ay-Etablissement REAUX are considered to be potentially contaminated with verocytotoxin-producing Escherichia coli O26.

Identification of the product
Products can be identified by a Health Mark with the Letter F above the number 50.267.01, which is above the letters CEE enclosed by an oval border.

Food Alert for action 80/2005 Update 1

Action to be taken by local authorities:
These products may present a health risk if consumed, and may not comply with the food safety requirements specified in the Food Safety Act 1990 due to possible contamination with verocytotoxin-producing Escherichia coli O26.

Local authorities are requested to ensure that any affected product manufactured by Laiterie Fromagerie du Val d'Ay-Etablissement REAUX is removed from sale immediately should it be discovered during the course of investigations. Products should be considered suspect unless they state they have been made with pasteurised milk.
