Anthony Rowcliffe Ltd recalls unpasteurised camembert cheeses due to contamination with Escherichia Coli O26

A product recall is being undertaken with regard to unpasteurised camembert cheeses imported from France due to contamination with Escherichia coli O26.

The affected products were manufactured in France by Laiterie Fromagerie du Val d�Ay-Etablissement REAUX and distributed in the UK by Anthony Rowcliffe Ltd to a number of customers including smaller retailers.

Anthony Rowcliffe Ltd has undertaken a full product recall and has contacted all companies supplied with the affected products. Points of sale notices are being placed in all stores and a press notice will be issued on 20 December to alert consumers of the reasons for recall and the actions they can take if they have purchased the affected products.

The products recalled are:
Reaux Gaslonde Camembert 250g
Camembert de Normandie Th.Reaux 250g
Reaux Gaslonde Camembert 1kg
All date and lot codes

Action to be taken by local authorities
These products present a health risk if consumed, and do not comply with the food safety requirements specified in the Food Safety Act 1990 due to contamination with Escherichia coli O26. Local authorities are requested to contact any companies in their districts and ensure that the affected product is removed from sale immediately.
