Ref: 70/2004 (update 1) (England): 71/2004 (update 1) (Scotland)
Food Alert 70/2004 advised of a product recall of Tesco own brand The Snowman iced jam tarts due to plastic backing adhering to the snowman plaque and causing a potential choking hazard.
Heads of Environmental Health and Directors of Trading Standards will wish to be aware that Tesco has now extended that recall to include two other bakery items which are;
This recall affects all date codes up to and including 'best before' 8 February 2005.
Please note that this product is not stocked in Tesco Express stores.
Tesco is taking this action as the snowman plaques on a small number of fairy cakes still have the plastic backing attached and this may present a choking hazard.
Tesco will be putting up in-store notices to alert customers to the recall. They will be placed at the entrance to the store and behind the customer services desk. In addition notices will be placed on the shelves where the product is usually displayed.
The text of the product recall notice from Tesco is below this Food Alert and consumers are advised to return the product to any Tesco store for a full refund.

Tesco is taking the precautionary measure of recalling packs of the above Snowman cake lines. The Snowman plaques on a small number of the cakes still have the plastic backing attached. This may present a choking hazard
This recall affects all date codes up to and including best before 8 February 2005.
No other products or codes are affected.
What you should do
Customers who have bought these products should return them to any Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.
