Heads of Environmental Health Services and Directors of Trading Standards will wish to be aware of a product recall by Arla Foods plc of batches of 'Discover Feta Cheese' following the discovery on opening of two jars containing pieces of glass. The product details are as below.
Product : Feta Cheese
Brand: Discover
Packaging: 300g glass jars
Durability Codes: All best before codes up to, and including, 26.11.2002
Although the jars glass was found in were from only one batch, the Company is taking the precautionary measure of recalling other batches up to and including the above best before date.
The following list of food businesses that the product has been distributed to has been contacted by the Company, and requested to issue point-of-sale notices in their stores to alert customers who may have already bought the product:
Asda, CWS, Iceland, Londis, Nisa, Makro, Appleby Westwood, David Carr Wholesale and Spar
Customers are being advised not to consume the product, and to return any implicated jars to the point of purchase for a refund.
Additional Information: The FSA understands that Arla Foods intends to issue a product recall notice and press release. No other 'Discover' brand product is affected by the recall.
