Product Recall: Co-op Mini Sausages and Tikka Dippers

Friday 21 December 2001

Category D: FOR INFORMATION ONLY

Heads of Environmental Health Services and Directors of Trading Standards will wish to be aware of a recall by Co-operative Wholesale Society (CWS) of two products.

These are the products affected:

Product: Co-op Mini Sausages & Tikka Dippers 400g
Codes: All Use By dates up to and including 26 December
Distribution: UK mainland
Volume: 1100 cases of 8 packs per case

CWS have initiated a product recall from all affected Co-op stores to remove these products from sale immediately. This will be accompanied by press advertisements in the Daily Mail and Scottish Daily Record on Friday 21st December together with point of sale information in stores to advise consumers to return the product for a refund.

Additional Information: The product is labelled as ready to eat. Both elements of the product are produced in high care production environments that would ordinarily allow consumption direct from the pack. However, investigations indicate that the finished product has been packed outside the usual high care environment resulting in possible cross contamination. Instructions for reheating are printed on the rear of the pack.
